The Agafay Desert

A stone desert twenty minutes from the city — dinner under lanterns, a private camp, the light before the crowds.

← All experiences

In short. The Agafay is a rocky desert just 30–40 minutes from Marrakech — close enough for a sunset dinner or an overnight in a luxury camp without the long drive to the Sahara. I arrange a private camp, the right table, camels or a quad if you want them, and the hour that has the light and not the crowd.

The Agafay has become Marrakech's favourite evening, which means it can also be its most crowded. The art is in the timing and the camp — arriving for the hour the light turns gold, to a place that feels like yours alone.

Close enough to do at night

Thirty to forty minutes from the medina, the Agafay gives you a real desert evening that still fits in a single night — dinner as the sun goes down, or a tent under a sky thick with stars and the camp to yourselves by dawn.

The right camp, the right hour

There are dozens of camps now, and they are not the same. I send you to the one that suits you — intimate or grand — at the hour before the coaches arrive, with the dinner, the fire and the quiet arranged in advance.

Questions people ask me

Is the Agafay desert worth it?

Very — for sunset, dinner, or a night under the stars without the long Sahara journey. At the right hour it's one of the most beautiful evenings in Morocco.

How far is the Agafay from Marrakech?

About 30–40 minutes by car. That nearness is the point: a real desert evening that still fits in a single night.

Can you arrange dinner or an overnight?

Both — a private dinner under lanterns, or an overnight in a luxury tented camp with the place to yourselves at first light.
